While starting the season off 1-4 and currently fighting to keep his spot on the Twins rotation Francisco Liriano came up big for his team. Francisco Liriano of the Minnesota Twins threw the MLB's first no hitter of the 2011 season. Liriano threw 123 pitches in his 9 innings of work. He allowed six walks in the game while only striking out two batters. Liriano did not just pitch his first career no hitter, but he also accomplished a career milestone by pitching his first career complete game. He has been pitching in the majors since 2005, and has started almost 100 games. The Twins took the game 1-0 against the Chicago White Sox, and bypassed them in the division standings. The only run scored was thanks to a solo home run hit by Jason Kubel in the 4th inning. Francisco Liriano welcome to the MLB History books.

Spurs Upset of the year
The upset of the year in sports has just occurred. The number 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies have knocked off the number 1 seed San Antonio Spurs. They are the second team to accomplish this upset since the NBA expanded the playoff season to a best of 7 series. No one saw this upset coming before the series started. The Spurs lost the series in six games, but this series almost ended sooner. In game five the Spurs were losing and managed to some how tie the game up in the dieing seconds. They managed to squeeze by in overtime and take take the game 110-103. The Grizzlies ruled the court in game six of the series and only trailed twice in the game. Both times they trailed they only trailed by a single basket. The Spurs offense was no match for the Grizzlies big man defense. After the game San Antonio game most of the credit to Zach Randolph. They were unable to shut him down in game six, or any other game in the series. He was a one man recking crew in the fourth quarter. Once his team was trailing in the fourth quarter he scored 10 of the next 14 points for his team to retake the lead and never look back. He dropped 17 of the Grizzlies 29 fourth quarter points to finish the game off with 31 points. The Grizzlies are going to have to face another hard opponent in Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. This series I would predict OKC to come out victorious, but with the Way Memphis has been playing you can no longer doubt them out of a series.

Ben Zobrist and the Rays
Ben Zobrist had his career best game today against the Minnesota twins. He pretty much single handed destroyed the twins offensively. Zobrist broke the Tampa Bay Rays franchise R.B.I record with 8 RBIs. the record was originally 7 which was set by Carlos Pena in 2007. Zobrist batted 4 for 6, hitting a 3-run home run, RBI single, and two-two RBI doubles. He was a triple away from hitting the cycle. The Rays destroyed the Twins 15-3. Zobrist is now getting back to his old ways. He was known as a good home run and RBI hitter, but last year his stats were not as good due to injury. He has been a contributor to what the Rays have been accomplishing lately. The Rays started off the season poorly getting swept by there division rivals Baltimore Orioles, and the LA Angels. The Rays only won 1 of there first 8 games; since then they have gone on a rampage winning 12 of there last 15. Tampa Bay is now only 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the American League Eastern division. It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the remaining season; this by far is the number one division in the MLB.

San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs were the number two team in the regular season this year in the NBA. The only team that was better is the Chicago Bulls. The Spurs were the number one team in the Western conference. They finished with a 61-21 record this year which is a win percentage of 0.744%. They won all there games this year that were against the Memphis Grizzlies. With the playoffs here the Spurs are playing like they barley made the playoffs. They are not playing like the number one seeded team. They are currently losing the series against the Grizzlies 3-1. If the grizzlies take the next game the series is over, and this will be the biggest upset of the year for the NBA. This series should of been a four game sweep for the Spurs, but the Grizzlies are fighters. My predictions for this series are that the Spurs don't gain momentum and lose the series. I predict a Gasol brother match up is in the second round of the playoffs. Grizzlies vs. Lakers.
NY Knicks go Bye Bye
Before this series started I predicted that the NY Knicks would win this series in six games. I was completely wrong. The Knicks did not even win one playoff game this year against Boston. The first two games of the series were close games which could of gone either way. The final two games, those games were absolute massacres. The Knicks lost by double digits in both games and allowed the Celtics to drop more then 100 points. There two Star players Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony were unable to work together to lead there team to the second round. I would of thought that they would of put up more of a fight in this series and at least brought it past four games. I guess Bostons playoff experience was to much for them to handle. Who ever the Celtics play next round I hope the Celtics lose.

Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Oriole's are back to there regular ways. After starting off the season with a 4-0 record the Orioles have dropped to the bottom of the division. They are following the exact same pattern that the Toronto Maple Leafs set by starting the season 4-0, then going on a long losing streak. Baltimore has always been known as the weakest link in the American League Eastern Division. With some additions to there lineup this year the season ahead was looking promising for the Orioles. Being in such a strong division it was known that they wouldn't be the powerhouse of the division, but it was thought that they would be a positive team. They are currently on an 8 game losing streak. Its going to be interesting to see what happens here on out.

John McDonald
I know this game occurred yesterday so i am a bit behind schedule but wow is John McDonald ever clutch. First he comes through in a big spot against the New York Yankees with the clutch safety squeeze and now he hits a walk off home run in extra innings against division rivals the Tampa Bay Rays. John McDonald is not known to hit many home runs. He has 20 in his career and a season high of 5, that of which occurred last season. For John McDonald to hit one of those rare home runs in an extra inning ball game to end the game is amazing. He is one of the top defenders in the league. To be able to help his team both defensively and offensively is key, and this will get him more playing time with the Jays.
